Hello! I am Mrs. Plaisted and I teach Kindergarten at W.G. Mallett Elementary School. I graduated from University of Maine at Farmington in 2012 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a concentration in social sciences. I started my teaching career as a Title I Math Ed Tech II in Livermore, ME. I spent my second year teaching kindergarten in Mexico, ME and am now very blessed to be teaching Kindergarten here at W.G. Mallett School since 2014!
I live in Jay with my husband, my son, my daughter, Maizie (our dog), our two cats and our chickens. Besides my passion of teaching, I enjoy photography, traveling, working in our maple syrup business, spending time with family and being a mommy.
I have wanted to become a kindergarten teacher since I was a kindergartener! The passion of teaching was passed onto me by my many amazing teachers who made learning fun! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the growth my students make and to see the sparkle in their eyes when they are engaged in their learning and are accomplishing things they didn't know they could. The beautiful thing about kindergarteners is that they have such an eagerness to learn that it's contagious! They are excited to explore new things, to learn to read, count to 100, and become authors and illustrators. It melts my heart when they come up to me and say, 'Look what I can do now!' Watching my students share their knowledge with their peers and parents is so exuberating.
